Does chocolate cause constipation?

by Gary
(Redmond, OR)

Question: Does chocolate cause constipation?

Answer:

Hi Gary,

Chocolate can certainly cause constipation in some people. It doesn't cause constipation in me (thankfully, since I'm a real chocolate lover!), but it can be a real problem for some people, particularly if you over-indulge.

Every person is different in that we have different triggers that can start us on the road to constipation. If chocolate is one of your triggers, you have my sympathies. :)

If you don't feel like you can give up your chocolate, you may want to try adding some Salba grain or Herbal Fiberblend to your diet to compensate and keep your bowels moving.

To your good health!
~Angie
