Itching Then Lumpy

by Connie Johnson
(Chatsworth, CA)

About a month ago I started itching around my ankles after awaking from sleep. I though it was bed bugs but found none (sprayed anyway).

I would scratch the itch and my skin would rise as in a mosquito bite, that's why I say itching then lumpy.

Now my husband has it and he says he feels like something crawling inside his blood. I don't feel it that way. I just itch and scratch, a welt comes up and it looks like a mosquito bite.

The welts go away soon leaving a little sore that heals quickly. Now the welts appear on my arms and neck and appear anywhere.

My husband is suffering more than me but it's really scary. His doctor says he's not seen it before and gave him Doxepin! Sure, he doesn't itch because he's asleep for a long time. Also I feel a lump under the skin under the itchy area.

Do you think we have a parasite? If so, what kind do you suppose? And, can you suggest a safe, natural body cleanse?

Signed,
Helplessly Itchy In The Valley

Hi Connie,

It's possible that both you and your husband are suffering from some form of parasite infection that you have passed to each other - easily done.

Since you aren't seeing bite marks, I assume that it isn't bed bugs, mites, or fleas.

Have you had anything different done around the house some time before you started experiencing these itching then lumpy symptoms? House or garden sprayed? New bedding? Anything new with chemicals, cleaning products, etc?

Sometimes we can have a toxic reaction to something we've been exposed to that we would never suspect.

Since your husband feels like he has the crawling in the blood, there's a good chance you've picked up a bacteria or micro organism somewhere along the way.

Yes, I can recommend a safe natural body cleanse - Herbal Fiberblend. Get a few pots of the HFB for each of you and cleanse for 3 months. It's easy to do - just mix the powder in juice twice per day.

I would also suggest you get some Florafood. This is the friendly bacteria that your body needs to keep your immune system strong and able to fight off invading unfriendly bacterias. By taking a couple Florafood capsules with each meal, you've got a much better chance of getting relief much more quickly.

I hope your husband will get off the Doxepin ASAP. I know most guys like immediate relief from their condition regardless of the long term consequences (My husband is the same way!), but that stuff has so many nasty side effects that come along with it. It's not a viable solution. It absolutely doesn't get rid of the problem, only hides it so you don't notice it getting worse and worse.

I don't know if you like garlic, but if you do, try to add more into your daily diet. Garlic is a natural anti-fungal and blood cleaner. If you don't like garlic, take Bear Paw Garlic capsules if you like. They are even more effective than the raw garlic because they are more potent.

I hope you can get on this right away and get some relief soon. Try not to scratch! :) I know, easier said than done. I've been there!

Keep me posted on your itching then lumpy situation. :)
To your good health!
Angie

Validation, at last!!
by: OMG, Feel the same

I was so glad to read your question and comments, I have been having the exact same thing happen and it is driving me mad. My only deviation from your description is no one else in my home has been affected and nearly every "bite/welt/lesion/" has been under my clothing (far under like under my bra, around the waist band of my pants) beyond that the symptoms and the itchiness (enough to drive me batty) are the same. We also had a friend bring their steam machine over and do our mattress, bought all new sheets and blankets and even had the carpets steam cleaned. Placing everything in plastic bags. Even clothes, dirty or clean, if it hadn't gone through a super hot cycle we didn't want contact with it. But it was to no avail. The spots returned and I am back to square one. We tried to see if we could locate a bug or eggs or even feces (pictures available on line) anywhere in and around our bed, but could not. And again I am the only one affected *sigh* I finally have a appointment with my doctor (took a month since she deemed it not urgent) next week.... I doubt she will be much help beyond possible referral to a dermatologist. If I do get answers I will be sure to return here and ell you all about it. What a relief it would be to know what is happening to our bodies. BTW I have tried, benadryl spray/get/pills, tea tree oil/bath,bacitracin, calamine lotion and Dermophlast to quell the itch. The tea tree (straight) last the longest but the smell can be down right overpowering.

OMG
by: Angela

OMG - I've had the same thing since September. This is the first post I find with my exact symptoms.
It goes then comes back so I didn't really go to the doctor because it isn't constant and every time I want to go to the doctor it goes away! But yesterday I woke up with my entire left side with 10 "mosquito bites", I also have some on my back. The itchiness is killing me.
I will definitely go to the doctor's with more specifics.
Thank you so much for sharing!

Itching is driving me crazy
by: Dayna

I too have been itching since Nov. First I thought my 2 house guests brought something w/ them, but after they left I was still itchy. It's all over my arms mostly, sometimes the back of my neck & legs.

I have not seen any traces of any bugs. I have washed everything. I have always used non perfumed/sensative skin laundry products, threw away the dryer sheets, got a humidifier & nothing works.

I have slathered on so many different types of creams it's ridiculous! Cortizone, perscriptions, aloe vera, regular dry skin cream, NOTHING WORKS!

I went to the Dr. & she gave me some oral pills called Hydroxyzine & all they did was make me sleepy, groggy & depressed so I had to stop taking them. I went to my Chiropractor & she gave me Oregano Oil, it was working but yesterday (4/2/11) I was itching really bad all day. I don't know what to do. I am waiting to see my Dermatologist on 4/6/11, I hope he knows what it is & can cure it.

My arms look terrible & when I wear short sleeves people stare at me horrifically. Nice weather is coming so it would be nice not to wear long sleeves every day. HELP!

I will update after the DERM.

Itching Like Crazy
by: Angie

Hi Dayna,

Were you taking Oregano capsules, or applying the oil to your skin? Sounded like you were applying it externally.

Apart from the Hydroxyzine, have you tried anything else (particularly natural solutions) internally to help?

If you aren't having an allergic reaction to something then you may need an internal cleanse. Of course, I always suggest Herbal Fiberblend for that, but there are some other things you can try to help your body deal with and control whatever is causing this terrible itching.

You could try taking a tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar in a glass of water 3-4 times per day.

You should also seriously consider taking probiotics with your meals. Get a good quality acidophilus capsule or better yet, a combination of probiotics, like Florafood and take one capsule 3 times per day.

Probiotics replenish the good bacteria in your body and help to boost your immune system.

Let us know what your dermatologist says on Wednesday.

Me as well

I am having the same issues. My dermatologist gave me the same thing, which I am unable to take due to the drowsiness. Please let me know if there is a solution. This is miserable.

Itchy then lumping
by: Dayna

I found out I had bed bugs, I got rid of my mattress & box spring, cleaned everything the best I could, I got space bags to put all items I thought the bugs were in, as I cannot find their nest, I make sure nothing touches the wall or the bed. The exterminator & the board of health have been here, so I am waiting (for 2 months) for them to come & exterminate. I wear long sleeves & pants to bed, cover myself completely in a sheet so the they don't bite & kill every bug I see! They still get me once in a while, but it's a lot less now that I know what is happening to me. I have beg bug covers on my mattress & pillow & spray/bomb the place every couple of weeks. I will win this fight! My arms have healed up & I have noticed that the adult bites I am allergic to, the babies they bite but they don't swell up to lumps nor are they as itchy, now they just look like flea bites.

Itching is driving me crazy
by: Dayna

Hi Angie, I was using Oregano oil orally & topically, I then was using children's benadryl which helped immensely for the itching. My Derm thought I had lupus & was going to do another blood test until I heard my neighbor complaining about fleas. I figured, maybe it's a reaction to the fleas. I bombed my bedroom w/ a raid type bomb & cleaned everything, went through everything under my bed & found 2 dead bed bugs (which I knew about from watching Hoarders) & was like, omg! I stopped sleeping in my bedroom & moved to the living room. They eventually found me & on May 1st told my landlord, I am still waiting for them to exterminate my apt. after 2 months. I have had the exterminator here as well as the health dept. so hopefully w/in the next couple of weeks this will be done. I have gotten rid of many of these bugs & they are minimal, but they are still biting me & that is not acceptable!

My chiro gave me the Oregano Oil to clean out any parasites that may be in my body from food. It was not what was bothering me, but did not know it til later.

Where are you getting bit? NEW
by: Angie

Where on your body are you getting bitten? Is it your ankles, your arms, all over?

How many bites do you seem to be getting each day?

Have you seen anything that you can contribute to the bites? Mosquitoes? Bed bugs? Fleas? Anything?

Are you seeing the welts before you scratch or not until after you've scratched?

Bugs NEW
by: Anonymous

If it's bed bugs the bites show up about 4 hours after they have bitten you.
