Skin Eating Pinworms?

by Lisa
(Salt Lake City)

Is there such a thing as skin eating pinworms?

My kids and I all got what we thought was pinworm. We tried herbal remedies and it did not help. Then we went with prescription. That seemed to work for two of the children. One child and I were not so lucky.

I now am also getting lesions in the area. I feel like I have some skin eating parasites in my private area. Do pinworms advance to eating flesh? Has anyone else heard of this?

Hi Lisa,

I've not really heard of skin eating pinworms in the way that you describe. Pinworms do cause a lot of discomfort but they aren't known to eat your flesh.

It's possible that the the lesions you are experiencing are a reaction to the prescription medication you took, or one of the herbal remedies you tried, or even a new condition developed from your weakened immune system.

I know that doesn't sound very encouraging or specific. You should be able to get rid of this problem by intestinal cleansing and immune support building.

What herbal remedies did you try? Have you tried Herbal Fiberblend? That's what I'd recommend.

Are you taking any probiotics? You really need to increase the good bacteria in your body so that your immune system is supported and can fight off the infection whether from parasites or otherwise. Florafood is good if you don't already have some probiotics on hand.

Do you have any organic apple cider vinegar? Bragg's? You may want to try cleansing the vaginal area with some ACV (diluted in water if necessary to avoid stinging of open lesions). The ACV should help to heal and soothe the irritated skin.

Since you feel two of you still have the pinworms, please be careful not to pass them around again to the other children. It's so easy to do. Careful hand cleansing and not allowing the children to sleep in the same bed until everyone has the all clear is important.

I hope you get rid of these pinworms and the various symptoms as soon as possible.

To your good health!
Angie
