Small bump, length of a grain of rice, with a black dot...

I had a small bump, length of a grain of rice, with a black dot on either end.

Hi,
I'm Tara. I'm 25, and I'm not sure if I'm crazy or there may be an issue.

I was getting in the shower yesterday after a day at the beach (pond) when I had a small itch, I guess, on my left upper side just above my hip.

When I looked, I saw what looked like a thin line the length of a grain of rice, maybe smaller, that had a black dot on either end. When I squeezed it something came out. It didn't have legs or anything that I could see, but I have no idea what it was.

When looking at it, it was the same size and length still. The black dot on either end like an eye or something. It was kinda a whitish transparent color. It was almost like a very thick jelly.

It was just under my skin. I'm freaking out picking any little discolored bump I see. Please help! I have no clue what to think or do. Now I feel creepy crawly.

Hi Tara,

Well, there's a couple of possibilities that I can think of. First of all, the very simple solution might be that you had some type of pimple with two heads (yes, I've seen them many times) that you happened to squeeze and it has your mind playing havoc with you.

Another possibility is obviously that
you've picked up some type of water borne parasite when you were swimming in the pond. Not terribly unusual as there are parasites and bacteria in water from many sources.

It's natural to feel all creepy crawly after you've seen one unusual creature on or in your skin. That doesn't necessarily mean you have a ton of them.

Have you ever had someone start talking about lice and then your head starts itching? It's the power of suggestion. :)

Try not to pick at yourself all over. You most likely do not have these critters all over your body.

What you can do fairly quickly is to take a bath and add some anti-parasitic essential oil to the water - like tea tree, or oregano, or eucalyptus.

If you happen to have some organic apple cider vinegar on hand (not the filtered kind, the cloudy kind with the "mother" in it), you can apply that to the affected area and/or put some in your bath.

If you feel continue to feel creepy crawly or you DO see more evidence of this small bump, length of a grain of rice with a black dot on either end, you probably ought to go ahead and give yourself a full parasite cleanse. Para 90 and Herbal Fiberblend should do the trick.

Let me know if you have more difficulties or if the essential oils/apple cider vinegar do the job for you.

To your good health!
Angie
