Vinegar and Cold Sores

Natural Remedy For Cold Sore Prevention

Natural Remedy For Cold Sore Prevention

I've learned to control the acidity in my body to prevent the cold sores that have plagued me forever, almost every 6 weeks for decades.

When I discovered apple cider vinegar would keep them at bay I was ecstatic!

You must drink apple cider vinegar every day. I sip it all day long. I mix a tablespoon of ACV into a 12 oz bottle of water and carry it with me, sipping occasionally throughout the day and then finish it off just before bedtime.

Sometimes, if I have eaten acidic foods I'll drink 2-3 bottles of the mixture throughout the day.

I personally think inexpensive apple cider vinegar from the grocer's shelf works fine but I started using Bragg's organic apple cider vinegar for the alleged health benefits.

I think it is a miracle!

Apple Cider Vinegar and Cold Sores
by: Angie from allaboutparasites.com

Hi Danny,

Thanks for sharing your experience with apple cider vinegar and cold sores. I'm a fellow cold sore sufferer, so I too have learned of the benefits of using ACV.

To be honest, I have used it more as a topical treatment once a break-out occurs, but your method of prevention is a much better and practical idea.

This is particularly true because of the "alleged" benefits you mentioned. :) There are a whole host of benefits of drinking a little bit of organic apple cider vinegar every day apart from keeping your body alkaline rather than acidic (huge benefit right there, of course).

I prefer Bragg's ACV as well, although there are a number of brands of organic apple cider vinegar available these days that haven't been filtered or treated and still have the "mother" in it (that cloudy stuff floating around inside the bottle). The mother is the evidence that the vinegar still has all those extra benefits in it.

I have to say that I've been slack myself lately about taking apple cider in water every day as I used to in the past. I got out of the habit for a while and sometimes that's all it takes to put you off track.

This is a great reminder for me and I'll need to raid my pantry and put my bottle of vinegar on the counter to remind me to get back into a regular routine. If I see it setting there I'll be more likely to make my potion up for the day. Sometimes I like to mix a bit of raw honey or molasses in mine for additional flavor and health benefits.

I haven't had any flare ups of cold sores lately, but this reminder of prevention using apple cider vinegar for cold sores is much appreciated by me and I'm sure other visitors that come along and read your post.

Blessings,
Angie Berg
