Does whey protein cause constipation?

Does whey protein cause constipation?

Hello, because of the fact that I am healing an anal fissure through healthy diet and many other practices, I am on a "Low residue/low (or no) Protein" diet.

Would you consider that the use of High Quality Whey Protein Powder a constipating food?

Thank you,
Rich

Hi Rich,

Keeping in mind that everyone reacts differently to different foods, etc., it is definitely not uncommon for whey protein to cause constipation in some people because it is a dairy product.

If you feel the need to continue with the whey protein, you may want to take counter measures, like increasing your water intake, adding some probiotics to your diet, or using a natural bowel cleanser like Herbal Fiberblend.

I would think those suggestions would be helpful in the healing of your anal fissure as well.

Hope that answers your question about whey protein and constipation.

To your good health!
Angie
