Constant Constipation

by Dianne
(Va)

I have constant constipation. I have had to use magnesium citrate for the past 11 months ever since my bladder fell. I had surgery on my foot in August of 2009 and the pain medication made me constipated.

He told me to take magnesium citrate and when I went I felt something fall and it was my bladder.

I have not had a normal bowel movement since. One colorectal specialist told me upon examination, that the flap in my rectum was turned the wrong way but a gynecologist could repair it. Do you have any useful suggestions?

Sincerely,

Dianne

Hi Dianne,

Although magnesium can be helpful for constipation, too much magnesium can be VERY dangerous and do long term damage to your colon.

Magnesium needs to be balanced with Calcium and Vitamin D.

Are you still taking the pain medication that triggered the constipation in the first place? I know from family experience how badly prescription meds can affect the bowels. It is absolutely horrid.

There are a couple of suggestions I can make that you may find helpful to try:

  • Salba or Chia Grain - these are little tiny seeds/grain that are pretty much tasteless. They are really rich in essential fatty acids that many people find extremely helpful in regulating their bowels naturally. You just sprinkle a tablespoon on something you eat each day - cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, etc. You can't get much better than a whole food. :)

  • Herbal Fiberblend - HFB is a natural combination of cleansing herbs and fiber that help to soften the fecal matter and make it easy to pass. The herbs also may help to eliminate any parasites and toxins as well as help to heal the lining of the intestines if needed.

  • AIMega is another option for getting the essential fatty acids that are very helpful for not only constant constipation but also for overall good health. These are capsules, but are made from grains, too.

I assume you've read the other basic recommendations, like increasing water intake, etc. That's always important in helping eliminate constipation.

Is there nothing they can do about your dropped bladder? My sister was just telling me the other day that she thinks she might have that problem (she's had 9 kids).

I hope you are able to get some relief from your constant constipation soon.

To your good health!
Angie
