Explaining swine flu symptoms, at this point, is not difficult.
The H1N1 symptoms are not much different than the common seasonal flu virus you are most likely already familiar with from past experience.
The swine flu incubation period (the time from exposure to the onset of symptoms) is reported as ranging between 2-7 days.
That means that you may come in contact with the virus somewhere and not realize it for a few days when you start to feel unwell.
According to the CDC, most people are infectious (contagious) a couple of days before symptoms start and then for up to 10 days or more after symptoms begin.
The length of time varies between adults and children, but I honestly think they are still just guessing and estimating. :)
The symptoms of the swine flu are pretty common. It's going to be difficult to tell if you have the swine flu or just one of the normal seasonal flu strains. Here are some of the familiar symptoms...
As you can see, there's nothing out of the ordinary in the list. Most people who are generally in good health will not have too much difficulty in dealing with the swine flu, if they should happen to get it.
Just like with seasonal flu viruses, the people who are most vulnerable are those who have underlying health conditions or those who have a weakened immune system.
If someone you love is in that category and they start to experience more serious symptoms, like difficulty breathing, the swine flu symptoms can become fatal. That's when you really need to consult a health care practitioner.
Preventive maintenance is your best option regardless of your quality of health. Work at getting and keeping your immune system strong.
Take some basic swine flu precautions and you are likely to get through the flu season with only minor discomfort.
To your good health!
