I would like to know if their are any dangers in drinking Apple Cider Vinegar?


How much ACV is too much, and how would I be able to tell?

Does apple cider vinegar help with diets?

Hi Robin,

The dangers in drinking apple cider vinegar are basically none, if you are using the right kind and not going overboard.


By the right kind, I mean RAW, ORGANIC Apple Cider Vinegar, not the filtered kind that you usually find in the grocery store. Filtered (clear) ACV can do you more harm than good. It's actually "dead" unlike the live beneficial properties found in raw apple cider vinegar.


You can tell the difference by looking to see if there is floating debris in the bottle and sediment on the bottom. :-) That's called "the mother" of the vinegar and let's you know that it hasn't been processed and filtered to death.


I use Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar. It's one of the best quality ACV's available. You can often get it at your local health food store or in the health section of your local grocery store. You can also purchase Bragg's ACV at Puritan's Pride.


How much ACV is too much?


Most recommendations range between 1 to 4 tablespoons per day, diluted in water or juice. I wouldn't really recommend more than that myself, for internal use.


If you are trying to lose weight, try drinking 1 tablespoon in a large glass of water 3 times per day. Many people find it easier to drink if you squeeze a little lemon in the glass, too.


The way apple cider vinegar helps in dieting is to help reduce cravings, help speed up your metabolism, and help your body to process your food more efficiently.


My mother-in-law puts a little honey in her ACV and water to make a refreshing morning tea.


Try a variety of methods to find the one that suits your tastes the best.


One of the dangers in drinking apple cider vinegar that people worry about the most is damage to their tooth enamel. If that is a concern to you, drink your ACV mixture through a straw so you have less contact with your teeth and give your mouth a little rinse with plain water when you're finished.

I drink a TEASPOON in a cup of hot Green Tea. I used to find Green Tea boring. The ACV adds flavor that I actually enjoy.

LOST 50 POUNDS NEW

I have been doing the Vinegar regiment for about 4 months. I have lost 50 pounds and still losing. I drink 2 Tablespoons in the morning in a bottle of water with 5 calorie crystal light. It has naturally curbed my appetite to where I am eating a 1500 calorie diet sometimes a little less daily and losing any where from 1 to 4 pounds a week.

My wife for the last16 years has had IBS doubling over and scaring me to death...all the doctors we went to,, all the test she's had done..nothing worked .the last doctor said you will have to live with it.....finally by accident a friend of mine told me to have her try acv with mothers and we did.now for 13 weeks she has not even 1 cramp or pain. starting to feel better.... NEW

a couple of months ago I was admitted with mrsa septicemia,epidural intaraspinal abscess cervical,liver mass, lumbar-thoracic-cervical spondylosis spinal epidural abscess,epidural intraspinal abscess thoracic,epidural intraspinal abscess lumbar, elevated hemoglobin a1c, vitamin d deficiency, high blood pressue, positive mersa culture and pneumonia....needless to say I felt pretty awful, a dog bite puncture wound on the back of my right knee was the reason. I had no idea what was happening to my body until 2 spinal operations and I almost ended up in the morgue instead of here today making a slow but good recovery. After being released two months in I started on Braggs w/mother 3 times a day faithfully.Im off my morphine almost. I feel pretty good. Thanks for reading. God Bless

ACV and Cucumbers NEW

Hi Lynda,
How much of the ACV and cucumbers have you been consuming each day? Is it an excessive amount? An average amount (like enjoying some pickles) shouldn't have an adverse effect on you.

You mentioned that you are on both blood pressure pills and water pills. Those both have side effects, of course, and yes medications can interact with each other causing different issues in different people.

Try to drink plenty of water every day. This should help reduce the fluid retention problem you are having (as a general rule). It sounds backwards, but that is how the body works. The more water you drink, the less fluid your body feels the need to store.

Of course, that is assuming that you DO have fluid retention and have not been prescribed the diuretic simply to help lower your blood pressure?

How high is your blood pressure? Is that your only health issue? There are natural things you can do to help reduce your blood pressure if you are struggling to get it down and the medications keep you feeling unwell. It is worth looking into.

My husband was prescribed blood pressure lowering drugs but he couldn't tolerate them. He adjusted his diet (to lose a bit of weight) and I got him started on the Bear Paw Garlic and Barley Life and he is doing fine now without the medications.

i have literally been craving vinegar for last week or so and i slice up a couple cucumbers and soak them in acv.....however now i feel like my bones are aching and just really restless ....i take high blood pressure meds and fluid pills and im wondering if they are not interacting with each other.....your thoughts?

Hi Shane,
Everyone's tolerance for ACV is different. It might be better for you to start off with only 1 tablespoon twice per day rather than 2 tablespoons twice per day.

Results vary, too, sorry to say. :) You probably won't see any huge immediate changes, but over a couple of weeks you may start to notice gradual changes.

One immediate result for some people is that if they tend to get heartburn, the apple cider vinegar puts a stop to that.

Gradual results can be things like appetite control, more energy, clearer complexion, less bloating, etc.

I just started using ACV. I looked it up on line and I am trying to lose weight with it. I am not overly obease but I could stand to lose a few pounds. I have been taking 8oz of water, 2 tblp of ACV, and 1 tblp of raw natual honey and shake it until everything is mixed. I do this 20 min before I eat my meals and 20 min before I go to bed. I've only been on it one day and really haven't seen or felt any good or bad effects. I guess my questions are. Am I using to much ACV? Do I need to use less AVC? How long before I start seeing any changes in my body. Shane.

I put 16 oz. of ACV and 16 oz. raw honey in a gallon container. Fill the gallon container with water and keep this in the refrigerator. I drink 8-10 oz. each morning in a smoothie form mixed with half banana, half apple, small handful of almonds and assorted frozen fruit. The mixture can also be heated for a hot drink to sip. By premixing it is ready to drink when you are. I have been using about a year now. Significant improvement in joint pains, sinus related issues and overall well-being. I have had three back procedures with no success until I started using this mixture. I also sometimes drink my mixture with meals but mostly drink filtered water with my meals.

I drink 2 TBSP of Bragg's ACV in a quart of distilled water with 2 TBSP of raw local honey and freshly squeezed juice of 1/2 lemon. I usually drink a quart a day, sometimes two.

The biggest benefit for me is the fact that it keeps my bronchials clear of mucous. I have asthma and react to wheat, dairy, and processed foods. While consuming my ACV juice, it helps to keep the mucous under control which definitely helps with the asthma. It also seems to boost my immune system as I have not gotten sick since I've been drinking it.

Next, it has erased the "hail damage" on my butt! lol. Hubby said my cellulite is gone! WOOOHOOO!! I also noticed that after not drinking it through the holidays, my saddle bags and butt started to expand.

Also, I didn't realize the next benefit until someone else mentioned it but my spider veins are just about gone!!
