Most Common Parasite Types

picture of parasite types

There are several parasite types that can affect your health and your life.  If you've been sick, there's probably a good chance that a parasite was involved.

Most of us have had "the flu bug" at some point or other. We say we "caught" it from a "virus going around."

You guessed it, that virus is one of the most common parasitic infections that infect our body and ruin a perfectly good day, or week, or month.

For those who like to read the "technical and scientific stuff," here is a breakdown of the most common forms of these organisms.

You may just be specifically interested in the various worms that can end up in our intestines, and how we get them.

Maybe, even more importantly, you want to know what symptoms you should be on the lookout for in your family and how to get rid of them with natural cleansing supplements.

I always turn to natural remedies first for several reasons.  Most importantly, they are effective, but they also don't have the nasty side effects that come along with so many of the synthetic drugs on the market these days.

In fact, it's interesting to note that many of the chemical treatments available have become completely ineffective when treating common "bugs" because they have developed an immunity toward them.  This means you get the side effects without the benefit.  NOT a good trade off!

Basic Types And Sizes

  • VIRUSES are the smallest of all infectious organisms, averaging about 100 nanometers (100 billionths of a meter) in length. They have so few genes and proteins of their own that in order to reproduce they need to take over the machinery of the cells they invade.

  • BACTERIA vary in shape and size, but tend to be at least 10 times larger than viruses, or at least 1 micrometer (1 millionth of a meter) long. They are single-cell organisms that reproduce independently.

  • SINGLE-CELL ORGANISMS tend to be at least 10 times larger than bacteria, or about .01 millimeter long.

  • MULTI-CELLULAR ORGANISMS range in size from barely visible to the naked eye to tapeworms, which can reach a length of 6 meters (20 feet).

So, from the smallest "germ" to the longest intestinal worm, there's something for everyone - literally! :-)

"Other prominent physicians agree with me;
that in human history, the parasite challenge is
likely the most unrecognized of all endemic problems."
Dr. Ross Andersen, N.D.

Although these infections are indeed a challenge, they are not a challenge that can't be overcome. As Dr. Anderson states, the biggest hurdle is recognizing the problem.

What You Can Do...

Cleansing the colon is the first step in getting a healthy body.

A combination of quality herbs and fiber will clear you out naturally.

Too often symptoms of parasitic infection appear to be the result of other diseases. So the symptoms are treated, rather than the actual cause of the problem.

As you educate yourself about the reality and possibility of an intestinal invader or other organism, you will be better able to equip yourself to win the battle against ill health and poor digestion.

Well, that's the basic information on the most common types of these little parasite critters. If you are looking for something specific that you haven't yet located, try the search option. Also, you are more than welcome to use the form below to share your own questions or comments.

One final suggestion: Consider using some all natural cleaning products around your home to reduce your chances of parasitic infections.

Have A Parasite Question or Comment?

If you have a parasite related question, feel free to ask it here.

***Please note: Give as much detail as possible in your submission. Saying, "There's a black bug in my skin. What is it?" is not good enough. How could anyone possibly answer that? :) Questions like that will be deleted.

If you want a reply, DON'T FORGET to leave your email address in the place provided on the next page (after you hit Submit) for notification when answers/comments are made. Please don't post your email address in the box with your question - that encourages spam to you.

Be as descriptive as you can and also mention what you have already tried so we'll know what other options might be worth suggesting.

Keep in mind that we are NOT doctors and can't diagnose you, but we'll do our best to help you find answers and make suggestions of natural remedies you may want to try.

Have you had any experiences with battling parasites that you'd like to share? Maybe you have a tried and true remedy that you'd like to tell us about. We'd love to hear from you, too.

Blessings,
Angie from allaboutparasites.com
