Tick removal from Major Labia area

How do I remove Ticks (several) from my pubic area. What do I put on them; for them to release? Can they be left and fall off. Taking medication will that be enough? and not remove them?

I would definitely not just leave them and hope they fall off. You want them to release as soon as possible.

There are different recommendations for safe tick removal. Traditionally, we are told to pinch the tick at the head with a pair of tweezers and pull straight out without twisting.

This is possible in many cases, but in such an awkward location, this may be more than a little difficult.

You can try applying liquid soap to the area using a cotton ball that is thoroughly saturated with the soap. Gently swab until the tick releases and is attached to the cottom ball. This may take 30 seconds or so.

Another option is to gently apply Tea Tree Oil to the area. The ticks may release themselves automatically as a result, but usually they just wither a little and then you are back to the option of carefully pulling them out.

Regardless, if you're sure they are ticks, you don't want to just leave them there. Ticks can make you quite sick if left alone.

Let me know if you have success with any of these recommendations. I'm sure it will be helpful for others to know, too.

Finally a site that mentions the unbelievable place ticks hide!
by: liny

finally...yes this happened to me..was doing some gardening sitting on the grass ....felt itchiness and a small lump 2 days later....this is even after taking showers....so showers don't remove ticks....i had to use a mirror and saw a small black dot. it was in the private sector of my female anatomy....YIKES! never has this happened to me...I just kept swabbing with witch hazel - and soap and water - then more witch hazel....used a mirror impossible to do this by oneself.doused the area with Listerine! yes Listerine...thought the alcohol and smell would help loosen the tick..not sure if i got the whole tick out but have a GYN appointment tomorrow......

Use Metholated Spirits to Remove Ticks
by: Anne

We get small grass ticks in our garden and I seem to pick them up pretty easily (but my husband doesn't, strangely enough).

What I usually do is apply metholated spirits to the tick to help remove them. It doesn't necessarily make them let go, but it kills them and they shrivel up a bit, making them easier to remove.

I don't know if you'll want to try that in your pubic area, but I thought I'd mention it all the same.
