Weird stomach ache, could it be a parasite?

I have a weird stomach ache. Could it be a parasite?

I went on vacation to Mexico (got back home about 1 week ago) and ever since my stomach hasn't felt quite right; however, it got bad like 4 days ago.

The first day of it being bad I was really nauseous. The 2nd day I actually vomited and the nausea continued so I started eating very plain and simple things.

The past 2 days (and so far today) I haven't been nauseous but my upper stomach, like right under my breasts area, feels odd overall, but if I don't eat for a while it's painful. It feels like my stomach is like eating itself.

After I eat something (usually crackers, bread with a little butter, chicken noodle soup, etc) it feels a little better but still not normal.

One of my friends that I went on the vacation with had the same symptoms but she also had diarrhea. I didn't and still don't. I'm a little constipated.

She works at a doctor's office and asked the doctor about it, and the doc said that we have a parasite and gave us both Metronidazole to take twice a day for 2 weeks.

I don't doubt that we have a parasite, but I want to know which one and if the medication we were given is going to
definitely get rid of ALL of it.

Any ideas on what it could be??
Thanks!

Hi Samantha,

It's really hard to say what type of parasite is causing your tummy bug. There are a lot of different bacteria and virus types that cause those particular symptoms.

Metronidazole is a form of antibiotic and can help to eliminate a number of different types of parasites. Personally, I don't like it because it has it's own negative side effects to deal with as do most synthetic drugs.

I prefer to treat stomach parasites with herbs and natural remedies so you don't weaken your immune system while you are trying to get well.

I use Herbal Fiberblend for digestive cleansing in these cases.

Regardless of which method you use, it's really important that you take probiotics too. You need to replenish the good bacteria in your body (especially if you use the Metronidazole). I like Florafood.

For some immediate relief of your stomach upset and discomfort, try eating some plain organic yogurt. If you get a good yogurt, it has friendly bacteria in it to help settle your stomach while you are dealing with the parasites.

Sorry I can't be more specific about the type of parasite, but that would obviously need exact testing in order to give a specific answer.

To your good health!
